Los Angeles Triathlon Club
Swim Event
Ocean 101
Description The Ocean 101 is more of an introduction to the ocean, rather than a swim clinic. We'll start with some (mandatory) beach instruction, discuss ocean rhythms, currents, surf, tides, entering and exiting, etc. Then, conditions permitting, we'll hit the waters to practice some basic techniques. Above all else, we want you to feel comfortable and safe in the ocean.

Swimming wetsuits required. With 3 days advance notice, you can borrow one from Allyson Thurber for the day (she's listed in the website's member directory).

We require that you can swim 300 meters non-stop freestyle in a pool, in order to attend. That's 12 widths of the pool, non-stop.

Bring dollar bills and quarters for the 'two buck' parking. Or just dollar bills for the exotic dancers.

The Ocean 101 has an RSVP list (8 people max) on the Polls/RSVP page. There is a small waiting list attached.

The Ocean 101 is free, but only open to Los Angeles Triathlon Club members.

If you sign up, and then need to cancel, please remove your name from the RSVP list by the Tuesday morning before, thus allowing others to attend. If you leave your name on the list, and do not attend, you can not attend another Ocean 101 for at least one month.

Please bring a swimming wetsuit, goggles, and a brightly colored swim cap (note: dark green, dark blue, black, etc. are NOT bright colors)

Location: We meet 6:15 promptly, Wednesday morning in the hourly small parking lot at Ocean Park/Barnard Way.
